Structure of the Section for Social Science

Leadership

The Sections of the School of Spiritual Science are carried by one or more Section leaders. Section leaders and members of the Executive Committee together constitute the Collegiate that is responsible for directing the School for Spiritual Science.

From the year 2000 onwards, Paul Mackay has led the Section for Social Science. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of the General Anthroposophical Society since 1996. He studied Economics and was active for many years in the sphere of international banking. Thereafter, he co-founded and directed the Triodos Bank in the Netherlands and has been in the Executive, and today is Chairman of the Counsel of the GLS Bank in Germany. Since March 2012 he is president of the Board of Directors of the Weleda AG in Arlesheim.

Since October 2015 Gerald Häfner is Leader for the Section for Social Science together with Paul Mackay.

He was a German politician (Alliance '90 / The Greens). During 1987-2002 he was several times a member of the German Bundestag and was 2009-2014 Member of the European Parliament since the European elections. Haefner is a journalist, teacher and Waldorf (co-) founder of numerous initiatives and foundations as for example "Democracy and Democracy International eV.".

Initiatives

Initiatives of the Section come about because of members who with to place their initiatives within the work of the Section. Initiative as a formative principle of Society that points the way to the future is something that the Section consciously researches and cultivates. Carriers of Initiatives are themselves responsible for their intentions and projects and can be contacted individually. For the initiatives the important thing is the mutual sharing and perception of one another that comes about.

Participants and Friends of the Section

This is the circle of people who are interested in the work of the Section, at times take part in the events of the Section, or support it, but are not, or not as yet, members of the Section.
